Volunteers Nurses Safeguarding

Safeguarding information

We welcome volunteers who would like to help support the sick on our pilgrimage.
We do, however, have to comply with the safeguarding policies accepted by the Bishops of England and Wales.
This means that all those working on the Pilgrimage who are or will be over the age of eighteen when we travel must have a Disclosure & Barring Service check with the Archdiocese.

These were previously known as CRB’s.

If you already have a CRB/DBS Disclosure with the Archdiocese [we cannot accept those from other bodies including Catholic schools] please indicate this on your booking form.

If you do not have a CRB/DBS Disclosure with the Archdiocese we will send your details to the Safeguarding Team at Cathedral House.
They will issue the necessary forms which will ask about any criminal history you may have and about investigations you may have been subject to concerning children or vulnerable adults. This is to provide you with an opportunity to let us know about yourself before your criminal history is checked.
For purposes of the CRB/DBS the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply.
You will also be asked to give the names of two people who would complete a very simple reference form about you.
When the documents are returned they are held securely and confidentially and are not used for any other purpose.

If you have any questions about the process please speak to Jane Jones or one of her team on: 0121 230 6240.
