The Moore ten point patient charter

1) Empathy
We aim to handle our patients with kindness, courtesy, compassion and patience by having insight into our patient’s situation. We always try to see our patients without a long wait and to treat them in an unhurried way so we can listen to their wishes and concerns and answer all their questions.

2) Experience
As a team all members have considerable skill and experience in caring for our patients and solving their problems. We aim to build on this, always ensuring that all the team members have excellent skills, training and experience.

3) Up to date
In order to be treated with the best quality materials and techniques, much investment in time and money is placed in skills training and the latest products. Dr Winter-Moore attends high quality courses of an international standard on a continuous basis to bring the benefit back to his patients.

4) Prevention
We emphasise prevention of dental disease by visits to a dedicated dental hygienist. We also have a maintenance scheme that aims at keeping the mouth healthy rather than carrying out treatment. Co operation with the patient in leading a healthy lifestyle to control plaque, diet and not smoking is encouraged to control disease and optimise health. Any treatment would be necessary and justified.

5) Transparency
The reasons the options and the costs must be clearly explained and written down. The fees should be fair, reasonable and affordable and represent good value. A choice of payment methods should be available including credit and debit cards and interest free credit for larger amounts to allow staged payment.

6) Health and safety
We need to ensure that cross infection control is of the highest standard, with items either autoclaved or disposed of after use. A new pair of gloves must be worn for each treatment.

7) Continuity
Because you see the same dentist each time nothing gets lost in translation and you are able to build up a mutually trusting relationship, giving confidence and continuity of care.

8) Pleasant environment
We aim to maintain and improve the practice building and grounds so it is pleasant to be in, it is welcoming on the outside with a tidy appearance.

9) Good facilities
Our friendly team of very experienced Dentist hygienist and nurses working in up-to-date facilities provide for your care in three spacious surgeries. One is located on the ground floor which can cater for the very elderly and disabled. We have a car park at the back of the practice, for those who need it.

Our hygienist Kirsty McNicholl, who trained at Birmingham with distinction, is the centre of our philosophy of
prevention.
Many of our patients regularly see Kirsty and have been pleased to see how well their mouths are maintained with
minimal need for treatment as the health is improved an maintained by a team approach involving you with better
home plaque control, improved diet and smoking cessation.
Studies have shown regular visits for plaque control and oral hygiene care can prevent gum disease, decay and even
heart problems.
Regular consultations will often allow preventative measures or minimal treatment to pick up problems early tending
to reduce costs and above all maintain a healthy mouth.

Resins and gels applied either in the surgery or at home can prevent decay helping to ensure healthy teeth and gums
for the years to come.

10) Complaint handling
If you are not satisfied or you have something you are not happy about we have in place a procedure designed to
restore your confidence by resolving things if all does not go to plan.

If you share my philosophy this may be the practice for you.
My team and I will do the very best we have outlined here.
I look forward to serving you,

Dr Peter Winter-Moore
